Informal Meetings

In-person meetings

Informal meetings are a great way to get to know indexers in your community. Currently, the gatherings are on hiatus. If you’re interested in participating in a gathering in Eugene or Portland, see the information below. If you’re interested in starting something in your community, please post on the listserv to find like-minded indexers near you.

A helpful resource for these informal gatherings are these Peer Review Guidelines.

Eugene Area Discussion and Peer Review

Indexers in the Eugene–Springfield area have gotten together occasionally at coffee shops to discuss indexing topics and socialize. Peer reviews are a possibility if there is enough local interest.
Contact Sam Arnold-Boyd at cascadeindexing@gmail.com for more information.

Portland Peer Review

The Portland Peer Review group has been an informal group of persons interested in indexing who meet for lunch occasionally to socialize, discuss indexing issues, and to review any indexes that attendees bring. Restaurant locations vary around the Portland area.

Virtual meetings

In Winter 2023, PNW/ASI members began gathering for informal virtual meetings three times a year (winter, spring, summer). These meetings are designed as social times within an indexing context so that members can get to know each other better and learn from each other. The gatherings are open to PNW/ASI members and do not include planned programming.
